Core Area 1:
Leadership and Management

 

Description

In the era of change in rehabilitation and human services there is an ongoing demand for developing new skills and knowledge in all aspects of leadership and management. The critical skills and knowledge covered in this core area include organization development, personnel and program development, fiscal management and implementation, and the requisite skills and abilities to work with boards, community groups, and employer/employee groups.

 

Potential Participants

Core Area 1 is designed for individuals who currently function or aspire to function as program coordinators and administrators in community rehabilitation programs, disability management programs, and other programs and/or organizations involved in serving individuals with disabilities.

Opportunities

Participate
Based on program needs, training can be delivered in variety of formats. These include workshops, seminar, distance teaching, individualized instruction, technical assistance, simulation and train-the-trainers.

Certificate
Rehabilitation Administration Certificate
Admission requirement include a bachelor's degree in rehabilitation or a related field and relevant work experience in a rehabilitation organization or program.

Graduate
Upon acceptance by the respective universities, students may apply program units as a part of the program of doctoral study in Human Rehabilitation at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) and the Leadership/Administration Program at the University of San Diego (USD); and the Rehabilitation program at the University of Arizona (U of A).

A new series of middle management trainings will be introduced in Spring 2002.
