Core Area 2:
Supported Employment, Natural Supports and Transistion

 

Description

Core Area 2 addresses supported employment and community living programs for youth and adults with disabilities. If focuses on competencies in instructional interventions, individualized assessments and support, community networking, and assistive technologies. It also presents the most current and significant issues impacting secondary school to work transition and community rehabilitation programs including service delivery processes, concepts and programs.

 

Potential Participants

Core Area 2 is designed for people currently employed in school to work transition, supported employment, and community living program (e.g., employment specialists, job coaches, job developers, community facilitators, community-based program instructors, and transition specialists.)

Opportunities

Participate
Based on program needs, training can be delivered in a variety of formats. These include workshops, seminars, distance teaching, individualized instruction, technical assistance, simulation and train-the-trainers.

Certificate
Supported Employment and Transition Specialist Certificate
Admission requirements include a bachelor level degree.

Graduate
This coursework meets the specialization requirements of Master of Arts degree in Education, with a concentration in Special Education and an emphasis in Supported Employment and Transition Services. This coursework can also be incorporated with the Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.
