Participants will be provided with an overview of the State Rehabilitation Services Program, understand eligibility requirements and the “order of selection”. Barriers to independent community living and employment for individuals with disabilities will also be explored.

Module 1 introduces you to the world of grant writing beginning with the identification of potential partners and concluding with the indentification of available funding. In this initial phase, you will clarify your proposal idea and review the literature regarding the area/need your proposal seeks to address. You will also explore funding sources that match the objectives of your proposed project/program. Overall, the purpose of this module is to take you through the initial steps that occur before you begin the actual writing of the proposal.

Module 2 focuses on the two main components of a proposal; evidence of need, and plan of operation. You will learn how to develop a statement of need and define the issue(s) addressed in the proposal. You will also learn how to develop a program plan outlining the proposal's goals, objectives, and related methodology.

Module 3 focuses on two additional components of a proposal - the evaluation plan and budget. You will design an evaluation plan to assess the process and outcomes delineated in their proposal. Additionally, you will develop a 3-year budget with a detailed justification for each project expense.

Congratulations your proposal has been funded! This module will cover key areas for successful implementation of funded projects. Participants will learn how to develop a workplan, maintain one’s relationship with the funder, and evaluate progress.
