New Course:
Quality Improvement Management: Change Management and Continuous Improvement
As of Winter 2008, a new elective course is available for BQS students. Called "Quality Improvement Management: Change Management and Continuous Improvement", this 3-unit course covers all aspects of controlling and facilitating change at all levels within all types of companies. In addition, this course takes the traditional quality tools, concepts and process improvement methods and applies them to the biotechnology industry.
Students will learn how to create strong relationships with upper management and peers, learning how to communicate the expected financial returns resulting from a quality initiative, and how to sell the benefits of those initiatives in a consultative manner.
This course will be taught be Mr. Kim Niles, Mr. Feranado Perez, and Dr. Dale Sevier.
Kim Niles has a master's degree in Quality Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills, with emphasis in Six Sigma and Process Management, and is
currently a Quality Engineer with Delta Design, Inc.
Fernando Perez earned a Communications and Electronics Engineering degree at the ESIME and a Master of Business Administration degree at the ITESM in Mexico City.
He is RABQSA Quality Management System Auditor Certified, an ASQ Senior Member and is ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt Certified.
Mr. Perez currently works at Global Quality Systems as a Consultant and Instructor.
Dr. Sevier
is the Director of Workforce Development & Operations for the California State University Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB).
He has 23 years experience in biotechnology starting with BioSciences Laboratories in 1976 developing clinical laboratory testing systems.
