COURSE OBJECTIVES
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this course each student will be able to perform
the following:

Define curriculum in a postsecondary setting.

Identify and evaluate major claims on the
curriculum.

Identify philosophical assumptions and conceptual
framworks used in postsecondary curriculum development and provide
a solid foundation for a curriculum development project

Articulate the process of curriculum change,
planning, and development.
- Explain the purpose and rationale for the following educational
program areas:
1. general education
2. workforce education
3. transitional education
4. honors programs
5. multicultural education
6. adult education
- Analyze and evaluate external and internal forces impacting the
curriculum.
- Explain the curriculum development process in a postsecondary
institution including the role of internal committees and external
agencies.
- Design a course or training program by preparing a detailed course
syllabus, lesson plans, and accompanying materials.
- Identify evaluation models and practices, including program review,
for curricular improvement.
- Investigate the influences of mulicultural educational experiences
on community college students.
