COURSE OBJECTIVES

COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this seminar, given active participation, each student will be able to perform the following:

  1. Formulate a professional growth and development plan.
  2. Identify appropriate goals for a course you would teach.
  3. Learn and apply conditions for learning to teaching situations.
  4. Identify student learning styles and multiple intelligences and relate instructional methods to student needs.
  5. Investigate the learning paradigm and apply principles to your teaching.
  6. Prepare a written, comprehensive lesson plan for a community college course.
  7. Demonstrate the use of 2 to 4 interactive teaching techniques, including some form of cooperative learning and the use of instructional technology.
  8. Demonstrate ability to design and teach a lesson focusing on critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  9. Design multicultural teaching approaches and apply to teaching situations.
  10. Investigate WWW sites, which can enhance student learning in your discipline/field and build them into your course(s).
  11. Construct a grading system based on a comprehensive and authentic system of evaluation.
  12. Compare the Learning Paradigm (LP) to the Instructional Paradigm (IP) and determine how you can implement the LP.
  13. Evaluate teaching (your own and others) with a plan for improving your instruction.
