The
Interwork Institute Center for Distance Learning (II-CDL)
was established
in 1995 to support educational efforts in geographically remote
regions nationally and internationally.
Instructional
Design and Delivery Team
II-CDL instructional
designers incorporate proven methods and strategies that focus
on providing learners with practical and applicable knowledge
and skills. Instructional designers collaborate with content
area specialists to transform “traditional” courses
and learning content into highly effective, distance courses.
II-CDL
knows that development of a distance course or program is
only part of the picture. Our qualified team provides ongoing
support for distance learning courses to facilitate and promote
learning, and ensure a quality educational experience for
both learners and instructional staff.
Technical
Consultants
II-CDL
offers technical consulting across a broad array of fields
including
- server
and systems administration for Unix, Linux, or Microsoft
servers
- personal
computing hardware and software support, and
- networking
installation and support.
Multimedia
and Video Production
Audio and
Video production studios provide clients with a variety of
options in developing and delivering educational and informational
content. Capabilities include incorporation of graphics, animation,
computer screen and blue screen generation into video productions
and multimedia productions. Services include;
- Video
and audio production,
- Streaming
video, talking slideshows and audio for Internet, CD-Rom
or network access,
- Interactive
CD-Rom or web based training or informational materials.
Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing
capabilities include ISDN and Internet based conferencing.
Live broadcasts may be accessed via the computer or at a videoconferencing
site. Broadcasts can be archived and streamed on the web or
published to video to extend viewing options.

Accessibility of Materials and Content
II-CDL
believes that making materials accessible to all individuals
who may use the product is imperative. We incorporate technical
and instructional methods for increasing accessibility to
educational and informational materials available on the computer,
through videoconferencing, and video or audio productions.
Accessibility capabilities include:
- transcripts
for audio and video productions and streamed media for the
Internet,
- closed
captioning for video,
- open
captioning for streamed video productions,
- accessible
computer based courses via web, CD-Rom, or intranet, and
- scheduling
of interpreters for live video- and teleconferences.
Web
Production
Our Center provides
a full range of web production services including graphics,
web design, and site development and support. Robust site
services include development and support of animation, streaming
media and database engines.
Course
Management System (CMS)
Our course
management system has evolved as a result of several years
of student support and course delivery across a variety of
cultures and technical infrastructures. Our Course Management
System is designed for ease of use by both online learners
and instructional staff. It includes a full range of tools
and student support systems including online gradebooks, communication
tools, and assignment and activity systems. These tools are
user friendly and require a minimum of Internet bandwidth.
They are also accessible to students with special needs including
individuals who use screen readers.
ForeCast© Student Tracking System
II-CDL
has developed a system to track student information, activities,
grades and progress through a course or program. The system
is designed to support and provide feedback to students who
are geographically remote from instructional and administrative
services.
Graphics
and Marketing Materials
Our graphics
department provides opportunities for the development of marketing
materials and brochures. These include;
- development
of logos
- graphics
for print materials, brochures, pamphlets, etc.,

for websites and computer output
