Overview
The SDSU undergraduate degree offered in this program is the major in interdisciplinary studies in three departments through the College of Education and the Division of Undergraduate Studies. This interdisciplinary degree has been specifically designed with coursework that will provide special education teachers in the FSM with a strong foundation in research-based education philosophy and instructional methods. The program will offer 17 three-unit courses (51 credits) to complete the upper division course requirements for the BA degree.
The degree blends courses from three different disciplines into a unified theme. A minimum of three courses in each of the three departments will be offered from the list of potential courses that have been identified for the program. Under this program, courses will be offered from four departments within the College of Education. Courses will be delivered from the School of Teacher Education (TE), The Department of Special Education (SPED), the Department of Educational Technology (ET) and the Department of Administration, Rehabilitation and Postsecondary Education (ARPE).
The distance education delivery components of the program are supported through the Interwork Institute's (II) Center for Distance Learning (II-CDL), which is administered by the Department of Administration, Rehabilitation and Postsecondary Education (ARPE). The II-CDL provides the instructional and technical support for three of the four approved graduate degree programs offering a variety of distance learning options.
Courses
The proposed courses for the students from each of the three departments include the following potential courses. Specific courses would be selected for the program based on the needs identified. The content of the courses will, as appropriate, address content and issues specific to the FSM.

Alignment of Student Learning Outcomes to Courses
Curricular Matrix articulating the alignment between program learning outcomes and course learning outcomes. This matrix (Table 2) demonstrates the overall consideration given to insure that the sequence of courses offered was aligned with the learning outcome goals. Individual course outlines were reviewed with instructors to insure the intended outcomes were sufficiently addressed within the courses offered.
