Students who pursue the MA degree are prepared for effective education management and leadership positions in changing multicultural societies and in varying organizational environments. Students experience courses and learning experiences that are relevant and practical given the unique educational needs represented in their country. Related student research associated with the program is targeted to respond to critical education issues facing each nation.
The emphasis in Educational Leadership prepares individuals to serve in leadership roles in community colleges, universities, technical schools, governmental and adult schools as well as proprietary institutions in both national and international settings. Some of these roles will include positions such as administrators, college and technical school teachers, community college deans, and college directors.
At the request of each nation, Interwork Institute will work collaboratively with the Palau Community College, the Palau Ministry of Education, the Community College of Micronesia, and the Pohnpei State Department of Education to provide the Education Leadership Masters for two cohorts, one in Palau and one in Pohnpei. A combined cohort of approximately 60 individuals will be carefully selected as emerging educational leaders. The Palau Community College-FSM, the Pohnpei State Department of Education, and the College of Micronesia-FSM will each contract with Interwork Institute to cover tuition, fees, books and associated costs for delivering the 10 course masters program using a variety of on-site and distance supported instruction. The program will commence in February, 2006 and will be completed December, 2007.
