Program Learning Outcomes

American Samoa MA - Curriculum & Instruction

The Master of Arts degree in Education with a concentration in educational leadership and a specialization in postsecondary education is intended for students pursuing leadership positions in postsecondary education, foreign school administrators, administrators of educational programs in private industry, civil service, or the nonprofit sector, administrators of technical and vocational programs or school-to-work programs, or those who have other administrative objectives in educational community and government fields.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Articulate the theoretical foundation of leadership in postsecondary education and administration. (610, 747)
  2. Identify how learning and development theories can be implemented in daily practice within postsecondary education and administration. (730, 631, 600, 630, 605)
  3. Identify what educational preparation and learning strategies learners need to be successful. (730, 631, 600, 630, 605)
  4. Identify and apply varying leadership styles that are prevalent within a postsecondary and/or administrative context. (610, 727, 747)
  5. Identify one’s own leadership strengths and identify areas of continued development. (610, 727, 747, 740)
  6. Identify ethical leadership issues in postsecondary education and propose solutions and strategies to address these issues. (727, 747)
  7. Engage in meaningful outcomes-based assessment of collaboratively designed student learning and development programs and initiatives. (690, 631, 791a, 791b, 740)
  8. Articulate and apply the foundational principles of access, equity, and learner success. (747)
  9. Apply research to practice in an area of specialization within postsecondary education. (690, 791a, 791b)
  10. Communicate ideas and concepts effectively in written and spoken word. (all courses)
