About the Program
The Masters of Arts in Education with a Concentration in Educational Leadership and a Specialization in Student Affairs in Postsecondary Education curriculum at San Diego State University is designed for practitioners. The program emphasizes student learning centeredness, integration of the curricular and co- curricular learning paradigms, and analysis, planning, and responsible practice of leaders in a socially just and global environment.
The program utilizes leadership theories to educate students in a manner that will allow them to become savvy consumers of research in order to apply ethical evidence-based decision making to promote access, equity, and quality student development and learning.

Admission Criteria
In addition to university requirements, qualified candidates for the M.A. in Education with a Concentration in Educational Leadership and a Specialization in Student Affairs in Postsecondary Education Program should have: (a) GRE scores, (b) 2.85 undergraduate G.P.A. (however, exceptions can be considered and granted based on personal and professional qualifications), (c) two letters of recommendation, and (d) be motivated individuals with a genuine interest in student affairs and services.
The following rubric is used in the admission process:
- Criteria to Evaluate Applicant's Preparedness for all Programs in ARPE
- Students must complete and submit two applications for graduate admission, one to the University’s Graduate Division, and the other to the Administration, Rehabilitation, and Postsecondary Education (ARPE) department. All applicants must also take the GRE and submit all required supplemental materials by the dates listed below be considered for admission. We are not able to consider applicants who do not meet these deadlines.
