Application Process

SDSU has chosen to make February 1st the required deadline for graduate applications. That means that all students must have completed the CSU mentor application, departmental application, have the transcripts submitted, and completed the GRE by this date to be considered for fall admissions. We will no longer have the flexibility of admitting students at a later date. (The next deadline to register for the GRE is December 12 for a Feb 6th test date. For more information, please check the offical GRE website.)

• Candidates must complete an application for admission to both the University and the Doctoral program. 

• Submit the University application on-line at www.csumentor.edu.
  • Primary Major Code:  331932
     Major Name:  Educational Leadership
     Specialization:  Community College/Postsecondary Leadership
     Degree Objective:  Doctoral (8)

• The following materials for application to the Community College Specialization include:

  • Program application (downloaded from this web page)
  • Two (2) official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (in sealed envelopes)
  • Three (3) confidential letter of support, preferably at least one from someone acquainted with your academic work and at least one from someone acquainted with your professional work
  • Professional resume
  • A 1,000 word statement of purpose
  • Examples of academic and or professional writing
  • A statement of support from your employer or a plan indicating how you will balance your professional responsibilities with your responsibilities as a student in a doctoral program
  • GRE results

Application Process

Final application deadline is February 1st. Early application submission is encouraged. The program will admit 15 new students in 2010.
