Three day
national Issues Forum for new
executive level leaders of vocational rehabilitation
(VR) programs The Executive Forum
The National Rehabilitation Leadership Institute offers a three
day national forum for the executive level leaders of vocational
rehabilitation (VR) programs. The Forum is designed to insure
that new leaders have the knowledge and skills to meet the challenges
facing today's public rehabilitation program. Forums are held
twice yearly in Washington, DC while the Congress is in session,
to allow direct access to key national policy makers.
The Issues Forum
includes directors of general and combined
state rehabilitation agencies, state agencies for the blind,
and tribal rehabilitation agencies. The Forum targets chief
deputies, or comparable individuals within the agency, and chairs
of the State Rehabilitation and Independent Living Councils.
Each participant is eligible to receive CRC credit and/or continuing
education units (CEUs). Reasonable accommodation needs of participants
will be met.
The
Issues Forum is tailored to meet the needs of each participant,
based on his or her prior and current knowledge and experience.
The on-site portion of the Forum provides an opportunity to
meet with leaders from the Rehabilitation Services Administration
(RSA), consumer spokespersons, university faculty, policy makers
and peers. Sessions are in seminar format with visits to Congress
and federal agencies, including RSA. Interaction between and
among the participants and the presenters is an important and
ongoing part of the Forum.
