The M.A. in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership prepares individuals to serve in leadership roles in community colleges, universities, technical schools, governmental and adult schools as well as proprietary institutions in both national and international settings. Some of these roles will include positions such as college and technical school teachers, community college deans, and college directors.
Once students complete this program, they will be able to:
- Articulate the theoretical foundations of student learning and development
- Identify integration of student developmental epistemologies with student learning epistemologies and opportunities to apply them
- Identify opportunities for and apply basic concepts of integrative learning and engagement
- Align curriculum and/or programming with intended student learning and development
- Identify and strategically work with varying leadership styles of administrators and faculty
- Articulate a personal leadership tendency and identify means in which to enhance personal strengths in varying situations
- Identify ethical dilemmas in postsecondary leadership and propose multiple solutions
- Apply research to practice, particularly in their area of specialization and focus
- Communicate ideas and concepts effectively in both the written & spoken word
- Engage in meaningful outcomes-based assessment of integrated student learning and development
- Identify cultural issues that influence student learning and development
- Identify administrative practices that can enhance learning and development for all students
- Identify personal leadership tendencies that can advance student learning and development
