Graduate Student Assistant Interest Form

The assistantship form indicates assistantships in New Student and Parent Programs and the Office of the Vice President.  These descriptions are not yet available but will be posted as soon as possible.

All graduate assistantships posted are tentative due to the current CSU budget situation.

Interviews will be scheduled between 3/17 and 3/28.  Candidates will be notified of assistantship decisions during the first week of April.

Coordinator, Student Orientation

Evening and weekend work required

Term position: May 12 - August 29

The Dean of Students Office and New Student Orientation Program at the University of New Mexico is a small office with a concentrated period of intensity from May - August that interfaces with many students, parents, and university departments. Under general supervision the position is responsible with assisting with planning and implementing freshmen orientation programs. Additionally, this individual will train and supervise student staff, as well as handle staff and student crises and emergencies during programs. The selected candidate must stay overnight in residence hall during program days and must have the ability to work long hours (up to 17 hours during programs). The Student Orientation Coordinator will also assist and direct new students and their families and resolve administrative problems and inquires. The ideal candidate must possess strong organizational and coordinating skills, will be able to manage multiple tasks and will have in-depth knowledge of First Year Experience theories. Excellent communication skills are necessary.
