The Technical Assistance and Continuing Education Center For Region IX(TACE IX) presents a comprehensive, integrated and systematic approach in providing rehabilitation TA/CE in Region IX over a 60 month time period (Oct. 1, 2008 - Sept. 30, 2013).
TACE IX provides technical assistance and continuing education activities to VR personnel of the seven vocational rehabilitation agencies, and community partners including Client Assistance Programs (CAP), State Independent Living Council (SILC), Independent Living Centers (ILC), Community Rehabilitation Programs (CRP), State Rehabilitation Councils (SRC), and Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation (TRV) programs. The VR agencies in Region IX are American Samoa, Arizona, California, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada.
The goal of the TACE is to assure opportunities for employment, independence and the integration of people with disabilities into the community by expanding the training, education, and development strategies for rehabilitation personnel through a managed system of continuing education.
Objective of TACE IX
The Technical Assistance and Continuing Education Center has five objectives in order to attain their goal.
- One - Establish, in consultation with RSA, an annual work plan describing activities that TACE IX will conduct to assist State VR agencies and community partners to accomplish the goals identified in their VR State plans and to achieve other performance and compliance goals identified by RSA's monitoring reports.
- Two - Conduct an annual needs assessment to identify TA/CE needs of State VR agencies and community partners. The annual needs assessment will be based on a thorough review of VR State plans, on-site monitoring reports and annual review reports issued by RSA, other performance and compliance information availalbe from RSA and State VR agencies, and other data, as appropriate.
- Three - Participate as an observer in RSA's triennial monitoring of State VR agencies in its region by attending each State VR agency's monitoring exit conference in order to gain a thorough understanding of each State VR agency's TA/CE needs.
- Four - Collaborate with other TACE centers to provide TA/CE as efficiently as possible to employees of State VR agencies and agency partners that have similar needs.
- Five - Evaluate how well each TA/CE activity meets a targeted area of need (e.g., the improvement of VR agencies' service delivery; practices and interventions related to specific VR populations; quality assurance), based on the goal and objectives established for the activity in the TACE IX work plan.
The five objectives set the direction for TACE IX and build and maintain a comprehensive system of personnel development approach throughout Region IX.
