SDSU is proud to be partnering with Palau Community College (PCC) to offer the 2015-17 Cohort of the Master of Arts Degree in Education with a concentration in Education Leadership and specialized courses in Public Administration and Human Resource Development. This degree program is being offered in recognition of the success that SDSU has accomplished through the facilitated Distance Learning Model offered by SDSU, Interwork Institute in partnership with PCC.

Students who pursue the master’s degree are preparing for effective management and leadership positions in changing multicultural societies and in varying organizational environments. Students participate in courses and learning experiences that are relevant and practical given the unique educational needs represented in the Republic of Palau. Related student research associated with the MA program is targeted to respond to critical leadership and human resource development issues facing the nation. Faculty from the College of Education and the School of Public Administration are teaching in this cohort.

Four people from Palau, including two of the students currently in the MA program and an alumni from a prior cohort came to San Diego for an education conference last week. They were able to visit the SDSU campus.

Mayleen Ngiriou, current MA student (completed our BA degree, principal at Koror Elementary School) said:

The experience of actually being physically present on SDSU Campus is priceless and wordless to describe. Just being there makes me realize that I am part of something really big; it’s a great motivation to continue my journey of learning and discovering and becoming somebody who can in turn help our future leaders. I know it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you so much!
