Dr. Marissa Vasquez Urias has been named Outstanding Latino/a Faculty: Service/Teaching in Higher Education award

 

 

Twelve of Dr. Vasquez Urias' colleagues nominated her for this award and the AAHHE Board of Directors were very impressed with the work she has done for the Hispanic community. This award recognizes a professor who had demonstrated excellence in teaching, service and has made a significant contribution to his/her academic discipline. UPS is the sponsor for this award. She will receive the award at the Annual AAHHE National Conference in March 2018.

As their three-year journey came to an end in May 2016, students who attended San Diego State University remotely from their home on the island of Palau were able to reap the benefits of their hard work as they earned their Bachelor’s Degrees.

Dr. Felisha Herrera Villarreal has been named as a 2016 American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) Fellow.

AAHHE bestows this honor on "key leaders, scholars, teachers, and artists who have advocated, supported, and championed Latinos in higher education. The Faculty Fellowships have been developed to recognize individuals who, through their expertise, energy, productivity, and contributions, have improved the conditions of Latinos pursuing a college degree or a career in higher education.
